February 15, 2022: Control Is The Antithesis Of Trust.

I recently posted about how loving our body has nothing to do with what we look like.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Today, let's now talk about how when we are controlling our bodies via counting calories, macros, points, etc, we are not loving our bodies. Trust is a *key* part of loving. And as I've said before: control is the antithesis of trust.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Imagine being in a relationship and the other person wanted to control everything about you. How much you ate, what you ate, when you ate it... what if they demanded that you exercise more to make up for food eaten. What if they freaked out every time your body changed in even the littlest way...
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We'd all agree that would be a *very* toxic relationship, right?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And yet: for how many of us does that describe the relationship we have with ourselves?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It's how I lived my life for a decade. No wonder I struggled so much. I totally distrusted my body.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Learning how to trust our bodies is scary. Especially when it's been so long since we've truly trusted them. Honestly: maybe since when we were babies.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
But it is possible.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The evidence-based process of intuitive eating reintroduces us to body connection and trust.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Little by little, principle by principle, day by day, we work on rebuilding trust.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And as we do this: we are letting go of control, and practicing unconditional love.
