February 22, 2022: Exercise is Something I Do For My Body, Not To My Body

For my physical well-being: to build strength, stamina, mobility, cardiovascular health, respiratory health, strong bones.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
For my mental well-being: to learn my strength, resilience, power. To clear my mind. To get some air. To calm + still my mind. To practice empowering mantras. To decompress after a long day. To challenge myself.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
For my emotional well-being: to let my emotions flow through my body through physical movement, to feel my emotions, to deal with them, to let them go. To breath deeply. To find some peace even in the most chaotic times. To have FUN. To laugh. To cry. To wake-up. To wind-down.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It's just something I do regularly because it helps me feel good.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It really is that simple.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
But getting to this place wasn't simple. I had to unpack an entire internal programming of exercising for looks, rather than exercising for care. From exercising to punish and control, to exercising to love and enjoy.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Shifting from experiencing exercise as something I do *for* myself instead of *to* myself has been key.
