As an intuitive eating and body image coach, it is important that I recognize the privilege I have living in a thin, white, able, cis body.

I know that the experiences I’ve had in my body are different than those living in different body sizes, colors, abilities and identities. I have never experienced oppression or discrimination based on my appearance or identity.

While I have come to this intuitive eating and body image work after a lifetime of my own struggle with body dysmorphia and disordered eating, I know that my struggles cannot compare to many others’ that have been much more significant. And I also accept that my own story is valid in itself.

As a certified intuitive eating counselor and Master Level coach, I feel confident in my ability to work with anyone who wishes to work with me, and strive to create an inclusive community, but fully recognize that my own body image journey is likely very different from yours.

It is my priority to create an open, inclusive and respectful environment for any person who wishes to be a part of my little slice of this world.

I am committed to being actively body-inclusive and anti-racist. I share this not to get accolades (please, no emails thanking me for any of this) or to virtue-signal, but to simply publicly state my commitment to this work and share my values.

I attend a quarterly anti-racism work group to discuss how we can be actively anti-racist in our small businesses and to hold each other accountable for action items each quarter. This group was created to make anti-racism work systematic and embed it into our businesses. We recognized that it can’t just be a one-and-done type of deal. It needs to be ongoing work that we are deeply committed to.

I am working to ensure that a significant portion of my monthly budget goes to Black-owned businesses. This includes actively investing my time, energy and money into anti-racism training.

I know that diet culture’s fatphobia is based in racism, and see a large part of my work with my clients being to acknowledge this truth, learn about the systems of oppression at play and to help my clients (and myself) actively opt out of supporting this oppressive culture.

I believe that to take down diet culture, we need an army, and the more people we have contributing, the better.

I see my work having two functions:

  1. To contribute to changing the system of oppression that is diet culture through education and advocacy. I do this through sharing education and spreading awareness of the harms of diet culture and how to overcome it via my instagram, blog, podcast, speaking engagements, and coaching sessions. I look forward to more ways to contribute in the future as my business and platform grows.

  2. While I am working for a day when diet culture is a thing of the past and all humans are respected for the human beings that they are, I recognize that we’re far from that future. Thus, I am passionate about helping womxn come home to themselves, in the bodies they have right now. I am passionate about empowering womxn to become their own experts. To reconnect with the wisdom of their bodies, to stand firmly in their inherent self-worth. To build resilience so that they may be unshakable in a culture steadfastly committed to tearing them down.

Accessibility to this work matters to me.

This is why I have created many different ways for womxn to work with me.

I spend much of my time every week dedicated to free content. This includes writing long-form instagram posts, blog posts, and recording weekly 60-90 minute episodes of The Babesment Podcast.

I also have different levels of commitment for those who wish to work with me more directly. They are listed below in order of financial commitment:

  • Mini-courses

  • Diet Detox Group Coaching Program

  • Private Coaching

  • Homecoming Premium Small-Group Program

It is my goal that anyone who wishes to work with me is able to.

I am working on creating a scholarship fund so that more womxn can access my coaching programs each year who wouldn’t be able to otherwise. If you’re interested in contributing to this fund, please email me at julie@julieohlemacher.com.

I fully recognize that I am far from perfect, and am committed to bettering myself and my space over the course of my lifetime.

At the core of my business are the following values:

  • Every human being is inherently worthy and enough just as they are.

  • All bodies are good bodies.

  • We are more than our bodies.

  • All people deserve to be respected and valued as they are.

  • Every person’s story and experiences are unique and valid. Everyone deserves a space where they feel comfortable to be seen and heard so that they can heal and become more fully themselves.

Thank you for being a part of my community. I’m glad you’re here. Whoever resonates with me and my message and mission are welcome in this space. You belong here.

Xoxo,

Jules
